Foddo is strongest when the downloaded file still preserves the original image data, such as file/document-style sharing, or when it only goes through mild resaves and format conversion. Heavy platform compression, social previews, aggressive resizing/cropping, and screenshots can destroy invisible marks, so social-platform copies should be treated as "try to inspect" evidence rather than promised recovery.
DRM (digital rights management) is built to control access and use: who can open a file, copy it, or play it on which device. Foddo does something else: it embeds a per-recipient identifier in a normal image file so that, if that file is shared, you can trace which subscriber it came from. It is leak tracking, not a lock on the file. Those are different problems, and most mass-market "protection" products follow the DRM story, especially for video, games, and software. Invisible, per-buyer marking for still images is a narrower use case, needs honest limits (for example screenshots), and has mostly lived in enterprise workflows.
